Dear Struggling Homeschool Mom, I See You

Dear Struggling Homeschool Mom, I See You

Does any of this sound like you?

Husband doesn’t help
Kids don’t listen
Family thinks you’re crazy
Strangers think you’re crazy
Sometimes You think you’re crazy
Too much to do
So tired
House is a mess
You don’t measure up
You can’t get it all done
It never gets done
Husband is demanding
Never alone
Never get any me time
Never get time alone with husband
Kids won’t do their school work
Kids don’t get along

“Come unto me, all who are weary and heavy laden.”

Who said that?

You know Him – Jesus!

And what did He say He would do?

He will give you rest.

He sees you.

He delights in you.

You’re the apple of His eye. His pride and joy. His greatest treasure.

He is grateful to you for carrying, birthing, and mothering His children. He honors you for your sacrifice, commitment, and the delight that you take in your children – His children.

You may not know this, but you are royalty. You’re a daughter of the King who made everything.

You’re the queen mother! Do you really know who you are? Seriously, look at yourself. Who are you? I bet you don’t know. But you know who does? Your Maker. The One who knows you best and loves you most. The One who knew you before you were even placed in your mother’s womb.

Yep, He knows who you are. And you are someone who is far greater and far more important than you realize. And your job in this season of life is the greatest job known to woman.

Raising godly offspring is your calling. It may look like keeping little hooligans alive and doing damage control and cleaning up after a demolition crew, but the real work is heart work. Boys and girls need their mama. They need to know that there is one person in this world who will always love them. They learn from the way you hold them in your arms, kiss their boo boos, praise their accomplishments, and smile at the sight of them – they start to get an inkling of how their Heavenly Father loves them.

Your role in their life cannot be overstated. You’re really that big a deal. Not just because of your work as a mother, but because you are you. Do you realize that God made you just so He could love you? But back to my original point, your role as a mother is huge! You just don’t know how important you are – how important your work is.

You may think, “But I don’t do any real work. I just change diapers, feed them, clean them, clean up after them, and keep them safe.”

Is that all??? Do you know how much that touches God’s heart? I’m being serious here. He loves to watch you with your children – His children. He sees your tenderness as you caress their skin, wipe the nasty stuff off of their bum, comfort them when they cry, rock them to sleep, and all the other million little things you do for your children throughout the day.

Just because nobody pays you for these things doesn’t mean they aren’t valuable. And just because nobody thanks you or notices or even sees most of what you do doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. Are you kidding me? You are doing the queenly work of the Kingdom of God. Pardon me while I polish your crown. Your Heavenly Father is more than pleased with the love and care you are showing your children – His children.

But He also knows how difficult your life is and how exhausting it can be.

He sees, and He understands. He lifts your burdens when you turn to Him. Lean into Him, and let Him comfort you. Let Him take those burdens from you. He’s just waiting for you to come. He will give you rest, even when it seems that there is no way to get any rest. He is the waymaker. He cares about everything that concerns you. Give every burden to Him, ask Him for peace and a plan. He will make a way where there seems to be no way.
