Does Homeschooling Have to Be Hard?

Join me and Shawn here as we discuss some ideas for making homeschool less stressful and more enjoyable for the whole family and moms and their kids in particular.

Some of the ideas we cover are reading aloud and narration, delight-directed homeschooling, led by the child’s interests, and using more organic methods instead of curriculum that forces arbitrary topics at arbitrary times.

A Prayer for Homeschoolers

A Prayer for homeschoolers: 1-2-17

We Pray for homeschool families, parents, marriages, kids, wisdom in teaching each child and leading them in the way they should go. Protect homeschooling itself from those who oppose it and try to take away our rights to do it. We Pray for freedom to do it as we see fit.

We Pray for wisdom and understanding for each mother to hear God’s voice and prophetically parent their children so that they will prepare their children for their calling and election. Raise up these children to become leaders on the mountains they are called to.

Strengthen marriages and relationships within families. Protect families from attacks by the enemy.

Give homeschooling moms wisdom in leading their children to real relationship and intimacy with God.

Help the moms to only seek to please God, not man. We Pray that homeschool moms would allow no intimidation, no comparison or competition – only God’s will for their children.

That they would have wisdom and discernment as they study each child’s personality, learning style, interests, strengths, abilities, and needs.

We pray for the right friends and relationships outside of the family. Everything that shapes and influences them to train and prepare them for their calling. For them to have the courage of their conviction, to be fully equipped and strong in the Lord and the power of His might. To walk in love, in truth, in the Spirit and in power.

That they would not be pulled away by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, or the pride of life. Give them a hunger for the Word, for righteousness and for truth. And a love for God and His ways. And a love for others. For the fruits of the Spirit and gifts of the Spirit to operate in their lives. Discernment, wisdom, understanding, humility, and love to abide in their lives in abundance.

Why Ninja Sheep Should Educate Their Children at Home

This post addresses the 7 Mountain Paradigm that Lance Wallnau teaches about and how we should go secretly into the Education mountain and gain influence over it.

How do ninjas train? Do they go to a large, public institution to be trained? I don’t think so. We are supposed to be ninja sheep, right? So shouldn’t we be trained in a private, separate school instead of a large, public school that happens to be in our neighborhood paid for by taxpayers?

Shouldn’t we have specialized training in spiritual warfare, biblical wisdom, and godly character? And shouldn’t parents be mentors to their own children to help them discover their gifts and talents and callings and election and help them get the training and instruction they need to increase their skills and knowledge in whatever God is calling them to do?

This would be a mini-church in the home. Training the next generation in specialized training centers called home. With mentors called Mom and Dad.

Then we won’t lose so many of our children to liberal, secular humanistic thought. They won’t turn against their parents’ ideas and teaching and beliefs. They won’t be turned into socialists because of being exposed to that teaching day in and day out and propagandized and indoctrinated by professors of socialistic, liberal, humanistic thought. They won’t be swayed or persuaded by professors that ridicule the beliefs of their parents and the generations that came before them. They will be grounded in the faith of their fathers. Or at least they will be more likely to if the groundwork of faith in God has been laid in their hearts by their mothers and fathers every day at home. They will have a foundation to stand on that includes the word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit in their hearts.

We can train them up in the way that they should go. We can teach them God’s ways and principles. Then when they are older and mature enough to stand against false teaching and temptations of the enemy, we can send them out as arrows aimed at the target that God has set for them. We can shoot them toward the mountain that God has called them to, and they will be more likely to hit the mark than those that have been trained by godless teachers who mock and criticize God and their parents and tell them that their parents are old-fashioned fuddy duddies with outmoded, outdated, obsolete beliefs that are no longer relevant.

This is a summary of my reasons for believing that homeschooling is the best form of education for Christian parents to provide for their ninja sheep children.

Shawn Speaks Again: Let Creativity Flow

My oldest son, Shawn (25), spoke with me again! This time we addressed the topic of letting children be creative and giving them freedom to explore and do things their way instead of insisting that they do things a certain way (mom’s way) – things that are supposed to be fun and free and creative.

Even when we have great ideas and imagine our kids loving them and doing such neat, fun projects or activities, if the kids don’t like them or want to do them, sometimes we moms have to let it go, and switch gears. We have to let them do their own thing and maybe they will come up with something even cuter or more creative than what the lesson planner came up with.

Whatever the results of the project, it’s almost certain that the experience will be better for your child than it would have been if you had forced him to do something he really didn’t like or want to do.
